Brian Freeman

CEO and Founder

Brian Freeman, cofounder and leader of Grower’s Organic, has a passion for organic living. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona Brian relocated to Colorado in 1991 while employed by Gemini Natural Food Markets. Shortly after this move, Brian joined the management team for the opening of the Washington Park Wild Oats store. During this time Brian also assisted Green Earth Farm at various farmers markets in the Denver metropolitan area, increasing his knowledge of produce and retailing. Brian’s excitement for produce and healthy living was a catalyst to the birth of Grower’s Organic in 2005. Brian resides in Evergreen and is the proud father of three children - Tovrea, CoCo, and Quintin. Brian’s favorite vegetables are broccoli Romanesco, quinoa greens from White Mountain Farm, and romaine hearts.

Dan Placke

CFO

A farmer at heart, Dan’s family farm background has permeated throughout his organic agribusiness career. Born and raised in central Nebraska, Dan relocated to the West in 1995 to embark on his over twenty-year financial and operational career in the organic dairy industry with Horizon Organic Dairy and Aurora Organic Dairy.  Dan’s mix of his passion for business and produce was the perfect combo for joining Grower’s team in May, 2017. He holds his CPA certificate and enjoys any athletic competition, especially collegiate.  Dan and his wife make their home in Johnstown where they raised their three daughters. Dan cannot let a year go by without making a trip back to central Nebraska during the peak of the season to eat his favorite – crimson sweet watermelon.

Rich Piech

COO/CRO

Growing up in Chicago, Rich's humble beginnings in a junk yard helped fuel his fire to get his engineering degree and enter the corporate world. Rich has worked with both large and small organizations during his 28yr career at Applied Materials. He helped his division grow revenue from $230 million to over $10 Billion. Building high performance organizations and negotiating across complex, multi-cultural organizations to win over $10 billion in new business is a norm for Rich. Rich is helping Grower's streamline the warehouse operations and train the sales team from the LEAN methodology. Rich's favorite food is wheat because they use it to make beer.

Louise Espinoza

Controller

Louise began working with Grower’s in December of 2018  Louise came to Grower’s with over 15 years of professional accounting experience.

Bruno Dispoto

Purchaser

Bruno joined Grower’s Organic in June 2011 as Purchasing Director and is most intimate with our farmers in California, Mexico, and overseas. Bruno grew up on grape farms in California and Arizona and afforded the opportunity to learn at an early age. Previous to his joining our team, Bruno owned his own produce brokerage business from 1987 until 2007 when he joined Montana Vistas LLC as the Director of Purchasing. In that position he spent time in both Canada and the United Kingdom assisting in the development of fresh, ethnic, and organic produce buying in pilot stores for two major retailers. The Rungis Market in Paris, France is one of Bruno’s favorite places as it is “produce heaven” and further developed his appreciation of produce from all over the world. In his free time Bruno enjoys a good gym workout, reading, and keeping up with international news. He also is a fan of the Carlton Blues Aussie football club, Leeds United Football, and Leeds Rhinos Rugby. His top produce picks include eggplant, green beans, bell peppers, and leafy greens.

Spencer Lomax

Director of Sales and Business Development

Spencer Lomax is the Director of Sales and Development at Grower’s Organic and has spent the last 20 years either cooking, buying or selling food with a focus on helping to grow a responsible food system. Prior to joining Grower’s Organic Spencer worked as the Director of Sourcing for The Kitchen Restaurant group, overseeing food sourcing for The Kitchen Bistros, Hedge Row Bistros and Next Door Eateries from Colorado to Memphis, Chicago, Indianapolis and Cleveland.  Spencer also held the same role at Snooze AM Eatery for nearly eight years helping Snooze grow from two to over twenty restaurants and developing supply chains into Colorado, California, Arizona, and Texas.  Previously, Spencer spent six years working in sales for Sysco Denver, earning their top sales award, the Torchbearer award, along the way.  Spencer has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Westminster College in Fulton, MO.

 

 

 

Nicole Courter

Account Manager

Born and raised near Ann Arbor, Michigan, Nicole moved to Denver in 2008 with her husband. A longtime advocate of organics, Nicole is excited to be working for Grower’s Organic. She cares greatly about our earth, environmental issues, and the carbon footprint we leave here on the planet. In her free time Nicole likes to cook, hike, travel, snowboard, and go to live music shows. Her favorite produce is garlic, cucumbers, mushrooms, and berries.
