Meet the Native GOBOX — A Weekly Box of Local, Organic Colorado Produce

July 26, 2017

Did you know you can get the same fresh, organic produce that we sell to restaurants and grocery stores from us to use in your own kitchen?

With our GOBOXES, Denver-area residents can taste the same great-quality produce that the best food suppliers in the cities use at the same great price. Before last week, we offered 3 GOBOX options— a small box (feeds 1-2), a large box (feeds 3-4) and the 'Pretty Ugly Box' (feeds 1-2 people, with delicious but slightly 'ugly' produce that helps to reduce waste + $1 of the proceeds donated to the Denver non-profit 'We Don't Waste'.)

Now, we're pleased to introduce the Native GOBOX— a box that contains only Colorado-grown produce and Colorado-made specialty products. It serves 1-2 people weekly for $25.

"We decided to do the Native Box for a lot of reasons," Grower's Organic Sales and Marketing Manager Emily Kutosky explained. "Colorado only has about 2-3 months where we can get super excited about our own produce that is grown here. Even though it’s a smaller variety of produce if you compare it to other growing regions, we believe its still important to support local farmers."

These local farmers are friends to us, as we've known them for years. We hope to champion their hard work by offering the Native box now through (hopefully!) the end of October.

Unlike a CSA, Native GOBOX customers will receive local produce from about 8 certified organic farms across Colorado instead of just one— located anywhere from the Western Slope farms to Boulder County or even around Longmont. We may be adding in local products like juice, honey or jam in the upcoming months too.

For example, here is the list from last week’s Native GOBOX:

Cherries – Berg Harvest, Paonia

Shiitake Mushrooms – Hazel Dell, Ft. Collins

Easter Egg Radishes – White Mountain Farm, Mosca

Baby Spinach – Ring-A-Ding Farm, Howard

Quinoa Greens – White Mountain Farm, Mosca

Zephyr Squash – Fossil Creek, Ft. Collins

Tomatoes – Trinity Farms, Brighton

Peaches – Kokopelli Orchards, Palisade

And, here is a list of the delicious produce in this week's box:

Cherries – Berg Harvest, Paonia

Peaches – Black Bear Orchard or Kokopelli Orchards (we have both!), Palisade

Green Kale – Fossil Creek, Ft. Collins

Fava Beans – White Mountain Farm, Mosca

Red Beets – White Mountain Farm, Mosca

Collard Greens – Fossil Creek, Ft. Collins
